Are children destined to repeat the lives of their parents, or can they break out of the generational vicious circle?

Her Daughter is a modern retelling of perhaps the most popular Lithuanian tale, "Spruce, the Queen of Serpents". In storyteller Milda Varnauskaitė's interpretation, the relationship between mother and daughter is at the centre of the tale. While in the popular version women lack the power to define themselves, Milda’s story is about the courage to be oneself and the ability to find oneself again after being lost.

Her Daughter is a tale with feminist overtones that contains both humour and wisdom. It is filled with female empowerment, however, the exciting story also depicts injustice and abuse. Welcome to the shores of the Baltic Sea where the secrets of the Underwater Palace are revealed…
